Ericsson has signed an agreement with the Swiss operator Sunrise to expand its WCDMA/HSPA network in a number of cities across Switzerland. Under the three-year agreement, Ericsson will be the key supplier of radio access network equipment to expand the existing WCDMA/HSPA network of Sunrise. more

USA based Alaska Wireless has selected Tecore NetworksĂ's Rural Village System (RVS) as the exclusive infrastructure solution for the build-out of the remote regions of Alaska. Tecore says that the operator found that most vendors of rural cellular infrastructure could only provide parts of the network, whereas Tecore has been delivering turnkey mobile networks including core platform and radio access network for over a decade. more

Motorola has announced the availability of a new IP-BSC-DO, a scalable EV-DO Base Site Controller (BSC) platform aimed at CDMA operators who are upgrading their DO broadband data capacity. Ericsson Demos HSPA Data Speeds up to 42 Mbps
Ericsson says that it will conduct the world's first demonstration of end-to-end HSPA Evolution technology with speeds of up to 42 Mbps at next week's CTIA Wireless show. Speeds of up to 42 Mbps represent the next phase in HSPA Evolution. These speeds are achieved by combining new higher order modulation technology (64QAM), together with 2x2 Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna technology. more

Aeroflex has introduced a LTE test mobile designed to address the challenges of 3GPP LTE network infrastructure development test and rollout. The TM500 LTE incorporates test, logging and measurement features at all layers of the protocol. This includes MIMO tests to verify that the network appropriately handles the MIMO related signaling and correctly applies the MIMO modes, which can be realized with or without the need for an external fading simulator. more

Nokia Siemens Wins Thai GSM Contract
