Global Mobile Phone Subscribers to Reach 4.5 Billion by 2012
According to MIC (Market Intelligence Center), an ICT industry research institute based in Taipei, global mobile phone subscribers hit 3.1 billion in 2007, thanks mainly to the continuing increase of prepaid subscribers with double SIM cards and corporate clients in the US and European markets. With the global mobile phone penetration rate reaching approximately half of the global population, growth momentum of global subscribers is expected to slow down after 2008. more

ZTE Wins 3G Handset Order from Hutchison 3G
China's ZTE has been selected by Hutchison 3G Italy (3) to produce two handsets which have been designed by Italian design center, MOMODESIGN. The MD2 is a 3G clamshell handset, while MD3 is a DVB-H and HSDPA videophone, adopting chipset qualcomm MSM 6280, with a form factor featuring touch screen functions and with a screen that rotates 360, enabling all-rounded video viewing. more

Hutchison 3G to Support BREW Handsets
Hutchison 3G has announced plans to launch a range of handsets which will support qualcomm's BREW mobile content platform. qualcomm says that the worldwide community of publishers and developers has earned more than US$1 billion from the sale of BREW applications and services since the first commercial deployment of BREW services in November 2001. more
