Qualcomm Helps Deploy Wireless Connections for Schools in Rural China
Schools in China's Gansu Province are to be connected to an internet backbone by means of qualcomm supplied CDMA backhaul kit. Using China Telecom's 3G EV-DO wireless network, this project has committed to building seven computer classrooms, which include computers, EV-DO data cards, related software and Internet service, in four local schools. more

Using Smartphones to Improve Student Maths Abilities
qualcomm has given 100 smartphones to students in four high schools in three school districts across the state of North Carolina in an experiment to see if they can improve maths proficiency. The project will run through June 2008 and be followed up with an extensive research study examining the viability of utilizing Smartphones to increase student achievement in mathematics. Safeguards will be in place to assure that students are able to communicate only with authorized users and that they observe acceptable use policies for the Smartphones. more

Qualcomm Updates Q1 2008 Financial Outlook
qualcomm has upgraded its business outlook and is now projecting pro forma revenues to be at the high end of the prior guidance of approximately $2.3 to $2.4 billion compared to $2.02 billion in the year ago quarter. This estimate is based on the shipment of approximately 78 million Mobile Station Modem (MSM) chips during the quarter as compared to the prior estimate of 74 to 78 million units. more
