Qualcomm Ordered to Amend Japanese Patent Licenses
qualcomm has confirmed that the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) has issued an order relating to its license agreements with Japanese manufacturers. The order alleges that qualcomm forced Japanese licensees to accept cross-license provisions without compensation, and to accept a provision under which the Japanese licensees agreed not to assert their essential patents against other licensees that had agreed to a similar provision. more

qualcomm has entered into a CDMA femtocell (including femtocell modules) license agreement with Global Wireless Technologies. Under the terms of the royalty bearing agreement, qualcomm has granted GlobalWireless a worldwide patent license to develop, manufacture and sell femtocells that implement a CDMA2000, WCDMA and/or TD-SCDMA 3G standard, including multi-mode femtocells that implement any one or more of these 3G standards as well as a OFDMA standard. more
