Qantas Airways Planing In-Flight Mobile Phone Service
Australia's qantas Airways says that it is planning to allow mobile phones to be used on planes during flights. An evaluation will be conducted in the first quarter of 2007 during a three-month trial on Australian domestic routes operated with Boeing 767 aircraft. more

More Airlines To Offer In-Flight Mobile Calls
Tacky low-cost European airline carrier, Ryanair has announced a deal that will see it's entire fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft fitted with OnAir's onboard mobile communications solution. The announcement will make Ryanair the first European airline to offer Europe-wide mobile telephony services during flights across its entire fleet of aircraft to all passengers via their own mobile phones. more

Extending phone use in airplanes
The Australian airline, qantas has extended its policy on the use of mobile phones to include all of the airline's international services, New Zealand domestic operations and Australian Airlines services from this week. Under the policy, which was introduced for Australian domestic services in June 2005, mobile phones can be used once an aircraft has landed and vacated the runway. An announcement by cabin crew shortly after landing informs customers when they can use their mobile phones. more
Telstra claims MNP success in Australia
Telstra announced yesterday that some of Australia's biggest companies would shift their mobile phone services to Telstra from other carriers following the introduction of Mobile Number Portability last week. Telstra OnAir Head of Business Solutions, Murray Bergin, said Lend Lease, Tattersalls, Australian Co-operative Foods (Dairy Farmers), Stanley Works and South Pacific Tyres recently signed with Telstra from other carriers. more
