Mobile WiMAX Network Launched in Libya

Libya Telecom & Technology (LTT), Libya's main and biggest Internet service provider (ISP) has launched a mobile WiMAX network - covering some 300,000 potential subscribers in eighteen cities. Alcatel-Lucent Wins Libyan WiMAX Contract

The state owned Libya Telecom & Technology (LTT) has announced the award of a US$56 million contract to Alcatel-Lucent for a WiMAX network. LTT said that the "Libya WiMAX Mobile" project is expected to initially cover the cities of Tripoli, Benghazi, Sebha, Syrte, M useratha, Khoms, Jdabia, Beidha, Garyane, Beni Welid, Zouara, Tarhouna, Briga, Ho un, Zlitin, Zaouia, Gadhames and Ras Lanouf.
