Belgacom contracts with Huawei for its Proximus Radio Access Network
Belgacom has signed a frame agreement with Huawei enabling the progressive upgrade of its entire radio access network with Huawei's SingleRAN solution. Under this long-term frame agreement, Belgacom will upgrade the entire radio access network across GSM, UMTS, LTE and multiple frequencies. This upgrade will cover the whole Belgian territory over the years to come. more

Belgian Operator Fined for Market Abuses

Belgium Regulator Not to Automatically Extend GSM License Terms

Mobistar - MVNOs Boost Growth but ARPU Drops Again
Third-party net additions have outstripped net additions from retail services for the third successive quarter at second-placed Belgian operator, Mobistar, majority owned by France Telecom. The operatorÃ's first MVNO, in the form of quad-play telco Telenet, launched in August 2006 and was followed less than a year later by Lycamobile, the pan-European MVNO offering low-cost international calls. It was this latter player which contributed the bulk of the 155k net additions seen in Q4 2007 - the highest number in any quarter for over six years - whilst the two MVNOs in combination provided 72.7% of the new customers. more

Ericsson Wins Mobile TV Contract
Belgian operator proximus has awarded Ericsson a contract for an end-to-end mobile TV solution, including Ericsson's Channel Selector. Ericsson will provide proximus with a channel selector solution - changing from one channel to another needs just one click on the mobile handset. This saves time and brings the mobile TV experience closer to that of a home TV experience. The launch of the solution is planned in the course of 2007. more
