Israel's Bezeq Reports Record revenues as HSPA gets a grip
Bezeq owns pelephone, Israel.s third largest mobile operator. The company added 25k new connections in the second quarter to reach a total of 2.69m. The transition to 3G services continues at an impressive rate and the new technology now accounts for 1.31m of the total, up 90k on the quarter. more

Israel's Pelephone 3G base Surpasses 1 Million Mark
pelephone is the third largest of IsraelÃ's four networks, but it was the fastest growing in Q3 08, both in real terms and proportionately. It added 62k customers in the quarter compared to 40k for market leader Cellcom and 36k for second-placed Partner, and its proportionate quarterly growth rate stood at 2.4% compared to 1.3% for both its rivals. At the end of the quarter its active customer base was just short of 2.70m. Nearest rival Partner had 2.88m, which means that its lead over pelephone was below 200k for the first time in three years. more

Israeli Operator Orders 3G Fault Management Platform
OSS vendor, TTI Telecom has been chosen by Israel's pelephone to provide the Fault Management solution for the operator's UMTS network. The solution expands upon pelephoneÃ's current OSS solution, also provided by TTI Telecom in 1996, which manages CDMA 1xRTT and EVDO based on Nortel and Motorola products. more

Cellcom Israel Q2 '08 - Impressive Financials Thanks to 3G Growth
Israeli market leader Cellcom maintained a lead of more than quarter of a million at the end of Q2 08 with 3.12m customers compared to 2.86m for nearest rival Partner. On an annual basis, Cellcom saw 5.3% growth to its customer base, almost half the 10.5% rate recorded for the prior twelve months but a good result nonetheless given that growth has slowed considerably in the Israeli market. Indeed, both Partner and pelephone lost customers in Q1, and although CellcomÃ's Q2 net additions of 22k lagged behind the 33k recorded by Partner, on a half-yearly basis Cellcom was well ahead with a 44k gain compared to a 4k loss for its rival. more

Brewing Up the Bible on Mobile Phones
Israeli network operator, pelephone has launched a new application which puts the entire Hebrew text of the Bible onto its customers mobile phones. Developed for pelephone by Zed Mobile from Israel, the new offering runs on Qualcomm's Brew platform. Specific searches can be performed by book or by chapter and users can opt to be updated about the weekly tractate. more

Pelephone - Strong annual growth but still in third place
As we predicted in Issue 93 of The Mobile World Briefing, pelephone remained the third largest operator in the Israeli market at the end of Q3 2007. With 2.56m customers at the end of September, pelephone was 236k short of nearest rival Partner's total customer base and 457k short of market leader Cellcom. This represents a marginal improvement on the deficits recorded at the end of September 2006, which were 260k and 462k respectively. Net additions in the quarter stood at 47k, up slightly on the Q3 06 figure of 43k, although on a proportionate basis, growth was almost exactly the same with a 1.9% quarterly increase in the total customer base in both quarters. more

Tekelec Provides Pelephone with Number Portability Solution
Tekelec says that that the Israeli CDMA operator, pelephone has selected the EAGLE 5 platform with integrated number portability (NP). Tekelec has contracted with Bynet Data Communications, a systems integrator based in Israel, to implement the solution and to provide local project management and professional services in voice signaling and data Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure to pelephone. more

Israel's pelephone has selected Nortel Networks as the exclusive provider of a CDMA2000 1xEV-DO broadband wireless network in a two-year supply agreement. The first phase of the network deployment is expected to enable 3G 1xEV-DO service for the metropolitan area of central Israel by the end of August 2004. Expanded coverage across the remainder of pelephone's national footprint is expected to be commercially available towards the end of 2004. more
