Smartone - Customer Growth Improves but Remains Sluggish

Smartone is Hong Kong's smallest mobile network by customer numbers, with 11.0% market share at the end of 2008. Its total customer base reached 1.14m, up from 1.11m at the end of 2007, with proportionate growth of 2.8% in the year. This was double the 1.4% rate recorded in 2007, but it looks set to be well below the growth rate of pccw Mobile, its closest competitor. In fact, at the end of 2007 Smartone had more customers than pccw, but the positions were reversed during Q1 08.  more

As APAC operators continue to develop and enhance their core 3G CDMA networks, CDMA2000 subscribership in the region remains the largest in the world and operators in the region are seeing some of the highest wireless data revenues in the industry.  more

PCCW - Mobile Goes EBITDA Positive Thanks to 3G Growth

pccw operates one of six mobile networks in Hong Kong, where it holds approximately 10% of the total mobile customer base. At the end of Q2 08, it had a total customer base of 1.18m, up 22.9% year on year. In real terms, the yearly gain was 0.22m.  more
