US Teens Going Online Wirelessly Without Limits or Controls
A survey of US internet users has found that the majority of teenagers who access the internet via a mobile phone have no parental or software based restrictions on what content they can view. In total, the Cox Communications funded survey found that nineteen percent of teens surveyed go online via their cell phone and 19 percent say their parents are unaware. The vast majority of teens (80 percent) whose parent know they go online via their cell phone say they are not given any limits or controls -- far fewer than are given boundaries on their desktop PC or laptop. more

Apple has previewed an upgrade of its operating system for the iPhone handsets, along with the immediate availability of a beta software release to registered developers. AT&T Gives Parents Control Over Their Children's Mobile Phones
The USA based, AT&T has launched a new Web-based feature that allows parents to stay in touch with their children while controlling the children's mobile phone use. AT&T Smart Limits for Wireless is a service that allows a parent to set usage limits on a child's talk time, text messages, instant messages (IMs) and downloads, manage how and when a child can communicate, restrict access to mobile Web sites and allocate minutes among users of shared wireless plans. more

Increasing Cellphone Use among Children Aged 11 and Under
Talk to any middle school-aged child in the USA today and chances are they will have a cell phone - as well as many opinions on the best service, handset, color, ringtone and/or game. In fact, according to a new multiclient study from iGR, approximately 50 to 70 percent of 12- to 14-year olds have their own cell phones. Penetration among those aged 15 to 17 years is even higher; the vast majority have used a cell phone for more than two years. Moreover, a significant percentage of 5 to 9 year olds now have their own cell phones. more
