Pannon Commissions Wind-Powered Base Station

Hungary based mobile network, pannon says that it recently commissioned the country's first wind-powered base station. The village of Kálló in Nógrád County offers suitable wind conditions throughout the year, meaning the wind generator can contribute up to 50% of the base station's power demand.  more

New member for Euro alliance

The Starmap Mobile Alliance today announces the immediate accession of Sonofon. The alliance now consists of ten leading independent operators providing seamless mobile voice and data services to over 46 million subscribers. As of now Sonofon, the number two operator in Denmark, joins the alliance with equal and full membership rights alongside the current nine operators. Sonofon will immediately start to co-operate in roaming, procurement, sales and marketing initiatives set out by the alliance and will be able to roll-out the Starmap Mobile Alliance endorsement brand with its key products and services. more

Third tier operators form alliance

Nine of Europes smaller mobile operators have announced the formation of a new mobile alliance. Amena (Spain), O2 (Germany, UK and Ireland), One (Austria), pannon GSM (Hungary), sunrise (Switzerland), Telenor Mobil (Norway) and Wind (Italy) signed a formal agreement in Munich, Germany. more
