US Patent Firms Seeks Ban on Imports of Nokia, HTC Mobile Phones
Following a complaint late last year by patent holdings firm, Saxon Innovations, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has voted to institute an investigation of certain electronic devices, including handheld wireless communications devices. Three Firms Sued over Bluetooth Patents
The Washington Research Foundation has sued three companies for violating its patents which could impact on the use of Bluetooth in mobile phones. The non-profit group, which seeks commercial uses and enforces patents for technology developed at Washington's public universities is suing Matsushita of Japan and its US division at panasonic along with the US offices of Samsung and Nokia. more

Qualcomm Legal Dispute - Decision Due Shortly
Within the next couple of weeks, the European Commission is expected to publish an initial decision on complaints against Qualcomm and its alleged patent license policies. Typically, the EC takes about four months from when a complaint is made to publish an initial opinion, and it is widely expected that the Commission will order a more detailed investigation, which could take a few years to complete. The complaints were filed by Broadcom, Ericsson, NEC, Nokia, panasonic Mobile Communications and Texas Instruments, claiming that Qualcomm is behaving in an anti-competitive manner in the licensing of essential patents for 3G mobile technology. more
