Serbia Awards Two CDMA Fixed-Wireless Licenses
Serbia's Telekom Srbije and Media Works have both been granted 10-year fixed wireless licenses based on CDMA technology. Four companies submitted bids, Telekom Srbija, KDS, Digi Sat and Media Works, but only two were shortlisted and offered a tender of EUR 540,000 (US$734,000) per license. more

Deutsche Telekom Issues Profits Warning - May Write Down T-Mobile Value

Deutsche Telekom Surprises with a Fourth-Quarter Loss
Deutsche Telekom has reported a surprise fourth-quarter loss on an impairment charge and shaken up its management team to focus on regions as opposed to industry segments. According to a new report from Arthur D. Little, both strategic investors, such as telecommunications operators, and especially financial investors are benefitting from the prospects of continued high merger and acquisition (M&A) activity in the Central Eastern and Southeastern European telecoms markets.
