Mobilink Sees Pakistan Subscriber Base back Above 30 Million
Pakistan based mobile network operator, Mobilink has reported that its subscriber base grew by 900,000 net additions in Q3 2009 to reach just over 30 million. The customer base was down 4.2% year on year, as a result of the subscriber base clean-up undertaken throughout 2008 and early 2009, but has been growing throughout Q2 and Q3 09. more

Pakistan Mobile Debt Buyback Plans Trigger Default Warning
The debt ratings agency, Standard & Poor's Ratings Services has warned that it considers Pakistan Mobile to be at risk of defaulting on a debt repayment. The mobile operator, owned by Orascom Telecom Holding recently announced plans to repurchase for cash up to US$100 million of its $250 million bonds due 2013, at a 23%-30% discount to face value. more

Egypt's Orascom Telecom Holding have launched their GSM mobile services in Bangladesh through its wholly owned subsidiary which operates under the name Banglalink. The network operator launched in nine major cities and plans to extend its services nationwide by the end of this year. OTH expects its subsidiary to invest over US$200 million in expanding its network coverage and capacity and deploying its services during the coming years. more
