EU calls on mobile operators to continue to improve child safety policies
Half of 10 year-old, 87% of 13 year-old and 95% of 16 year-old children in the EU have a mobile phone, but half of European parents worry mobile phone use might expose their children to sexually and violently explicit images (51%) or bullying by other children (49%), according to a survey. The European Commission has now called on mobile operators to do more to keep children safe while using mobile phones by putting in place all the measures in the voluntary code of conduct, signed by 26 mobile operators in 2007. more

Comfone Launches Remote Wi-Fi Test Service
Comfone says that it has launched a Wi-Fi remote test service to facilitate the testing and rollout of Wi-Fi roaming services. The service enables operators and software suppliers to remotely test the inter-operability between WISPr client software and over 30 test hotspots located in a single location in Bern, Switzerland. more

T-Mobile is to reintroduce the Ben brand into the Netherlands, some five years after the company dropped the brand from its acquisition of the company of the same name. T-mobile originally entered the Dutch market by the acquisition of Ben in September 2002, and rebranded the network under the international T-Mobile identity the following February. more
