Europe's Top Ten Networks - All Now Over 20m Customers
In Issue 98 of the Mobile World Briefing, when last reviewing the European market, we suggested that "if the normal seasonal pattern is repeated in Q4, then the final period of the year should see something between 25-30m new connections, enough to take penetration up to 110%". We mention this, because the normal seasonal pattern was repeated, we did see 25m new connections across the region and penetration is now standing at exactly 110%. more

Orange announces full year results
Orange, controlled by France Telecom has reported annual turnover up 25% on 2000 to US$13.4 billion and an EBITDA that is up 86% to US$2.9 billion. Operating income to US$1.2 billion and the company has reported its first profit before tax, goodwill amortisation and minority interests of US$342 million (a US$704 million improvement on 2000). The company's net debt at 31 December 2001 was US$5.5 billion, plus a vendor loan of US$207 million. more
