Orange Romania Orders Network Optimisation Software
Tektronix says that Orange Romania has selected its Beamer and Orion solutions from its Unified Assurance suite to aid in the operator's network transformation efforts. The selection expands Tektronix' association with Orange Romania, which is currently using the GeoProbe network monitoring solution. The addition of Tektronix' Beamer and Orion solutions will enable Orange Romania to take a proactive approach in assuring optimal service delivery. more

Two New 3G Licenses for Romania
Romania's telecoms regulator, IGCTI says that it has awarded the country's remaining two 3G concessions to cable operator RCS&RDS and CDMA450 operator, Telemobil - trading as Zapp. The two companies obtained the best scores after the evaluation according to the task book criteria. RCS&RDS gained 90.41 points and Telemobil SA 72.71 points. Cosmote Mobile obtained 59.74 points and Radiocom 49.58. more

Orange Romania Passes Subscriber Landmark
Orange says that it has become the first mobile operator in Romania to reach 6 million customers. After announcing 5 million customers in January, Orange announced last week, that it had excedeed 6 million subscribers. In June mobile phone market penetration surpassed 50%, and estimations for the end of the year are envisaging penetration of up to 60%, these being clear indicators of a positive economic climate in Romania. more
