Australia's Optus Sued Over Pre-Paid Calling Card Subsidiary
Australia's Competition and Consumer Commission has launched legal action against a pre-paid phone card subsidiary of mobile network operator, optus. The ACCC says that it has instituted legal proceedings in the Federal Court, Perth, against Prepaid Services Pty Limited and Boost Tel Pty Limited for alleged contraventions of the consumer protection provisions of the Trade Practices Act 1974 in relation to the sale of their pre-paid phone cards. Prepaid Services Pty Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of optus Mobile, which is a member of the optus Group of companies. more

Singapore's SingTel has reached an agreement with the Australian bank, ANZ on a AU$500 million (US$366 million), five year contract to provide telecommunications and managed network services.
