Nokia Siemens Networks Wins 60% of Russian 3G Tender
Russia's MegaFon has announced the outcome of a 3G network tender, with Nokia Siemens Networks supplying at least 60% of 3G Node -B Base Stations. MegaFon says that it shall decide upon the territory of the equipment supply within Russia at the same time there shall be no exclusivity rights provided to vendors. more

Nokia Siemens Networks has expanded its portfolio of energy efficient Smart Site solutions with the introduction of SiteStar, a cooling cabinet that can increase battery life by three times, and reduce the electricity consumed for cooling batteries at a base station site by up to 95%. Zain successfully trials HSPA+ in a live 3G network
Zain Saudi Arabia has concluded trials of a Nokia Siemens Networks supplied Internet-HSPA (I-HSPA) software upgrade within Zain's existing radio access network. The trial introduced a simple, flat architecture demonstrating how traffic can bypass the Radio Network Controller (RNC) and the Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN), to deliver improved data transmission speeds. Because of the re-routing, there is no need to build in additional capacity, in effect reducing the opex and CAPEX. more
