Azingo Wins Vodafone Contract for Mobile Linux Phone Applications
Vodafone has awarded a contract to mobile OS firm, Azingo to develop applications for mobile phones based on the Linux Operating System. GPS-Enabled Handsets Expected to Bypass the Economic Downturn
Shipments of GPS-enabled mobile phones will hit a speed-bump in 2009, but will still manage to post year-to-year unit growth through the current economic downturn, according to a new market study by ABI Research. While global handset shipments are expected to drop by 4-5% in 2009, GPS-enabled phones will climb to 240 million units, an increase of 6.4% over 2008. more

IBM Study Finds Consumers Prefer a Mobile Device Over the PC
IBM has released new survey results which claims that over 50 percent of consumers would substitute their Internet usage on a PC for a mobile device. IBM surveyed 600 consumers in the USA, China and the UK on their preferences regarding the mobile Internet., and found that communication, travel and navigation applications, as well as news and information services, are expected to increase significantly in popularity and usage over the mobile Internet. more
