Foxconn Full-Year Profits Drop 83%

Nokia Chinese Partner May Win CDMA Handset Orders

There are reports that Shenzhen, China based BYD is likely to secure orders for CDMA based handsets from Nokia in the near future. After an expected post-holiday slump in handset shipments in the first quarter of the year, the worldwide mobile phone market grew at a respectable pace in the second quarter, with most vendors citing success in emerging markets. According to IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, vendors shipped a total of 272.7 million units worldwide in Q2 '07, about 6.9% more than the quarter earlier, and 16.5% more than the same quarter a year ago. more

Mobile Phone Shipments Grow 10% Year Over Year

The worldwide mobile phone market demonstrated continued growth during the first quarter of 2007. According to IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, vendors shipped 256.4 million units, a year-on-year increase of 10.0% for the first quarter of 2007. However, the shipments were 13.8% lower than the record shipments in the previous quarter; the decline was expected owing to the seasonality of the market. more
