O2 Confirms Winning Irish iPhone Exclusivity

O2 Ireland has confirmed that it will be the exclusive Irish carrier for Apple's iPhone when it makes its official debut in Ireland on March 14th. The iPhone will be sold in Ireland through O2 and Carphone Warehouse retail stores - as happens currently in the UK. iPhone will be available in an 8GB model for €399 (US$600) and a 16GB model for €499 (US$750).  more

Small Businesses do not Understand 3G or VoiP

A new survey by O2 Ireland reports increased use of laptop PCs amongst Irish small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) but over half are unaware of 3G data cards. The study, which was conducted on behalf of O2 by TNS mrbi, finds that the usage of laptop PCs amongst SME directors has increased from 36% in 2004 to 46% today. However, 54% of the total surveyed do not know what 3G data cards are. Just 8% of respondents who are aware of the technology use 3G data cards. more

Napster Launches Mobile Music Service in Ireland

Ericsson and Napster have announced the first European launch for Napster Mobile, with Irish mobile phone operator O2 Ireland. O2 Ireland is also the first operator to launch Napster Mobile in i-mode. O2 Ireland customers will be able to search, browse, preview and purchase full-length songs from Napster's music catalog and access Ericsson-aggregated personalization content via their i-mode, WAP and Java-enabled wireless handsets. more

O2 End March User Base 32.79 Million, +16% Or 699,000 On Year "

LONDON -(Dow Jones)- O2 Chairman & Chief Executive, Peter Erskine, said Friday that during the first quarter "The strong momentum in all O2's businesses has been maintained within the Telefonica Group. Across O2, now including the Czech Republic, we added 699,000 mobile customers, taking the total mobile customer base to 32.794 million, 16% higher than last year. more
