­LG and nortel have demonstrated the world's first 3GPP standards compliant active handover of a data transmission between a LTE network and a CDMA network. Inter-technology handover allowing mobile users the ability to move between LTE and CDMA networks without losing data connectivity means that operators can run these networks concurrently without impacting services. This will help to ensure that users have full network coverage while taking advantage of LTE speeds, wherever initially available.  more

Nortel Wins CDMA Expansion Contract in Nigeria

nortel has won a CDMA network upgrade contract from Nigeria based Multi-Links Telecommunications worth US$45 million. The initial phase of the contract has been awarded and will use nortel's CDMA 1xEV-DO Rev A solution in the metropolitan region of Lagos, the prime economic center of the country.  more

3G Upgrade Contract for Macau

Alcatel-Lucent has been awarded a contract to deploy a CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Revision A (Rev. A) high-speed wireless network on the island of Macau for China Unicom. Nortel Wins $2 Billion CDMA Contract

nortel says that it has signed an expected five-year, US$2 billion agreement with the US based CDMA operator, Verizon Wireless. Under this agreement, Verizon Wireless plans to deploy additional CDMA2000 radio base stations, switching, IP platforms, optical networking solutions and related equipment. In addition, this agreement builds on the contract announced in July 2006, whereby nortel was selected to supply Verizon Wireless with CDMA 1xEV-DO Revision A technology. more

Vietnam CDMA Operator Nears Launch

Hanoi Telecom has fixed the launch date of its Vietnamese CDMA network for the middle of next month, the company has announced. Over the past two years, the company - a joint venture between Hanoi Telecom and Hutchison Telecom Vietnam - has installed some 800 base stations through the country. more

CDMA Spend Tops US$ Billion in Two Months

The CDMA Development Group (CDG) says that within the past two months, worldwide operator investments in CDMA2000 networks, that have been publicized, approached US$1 billion. The CDG also reported that according to several analysts, by the end of 2006 operators worldwide will have invested up to US$13 billion in CDMA2000 networks. more
