Nokia to Embed SMS Browser in African Handsets

Mobile-XL, a USA based mobile technology company has announced a collaboration with nokia to start embedding its SMS based browser in mobile phones for selected African markets. As early as March 2009, a select series of nokia handsets shipping into Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will be equipped with the firms XLBrowser software service.  more

Austria Tests New NFC Based Mobile Ticketing Service

Mobilkom austria says that it has developed an NFC service in cooperation with the Austrian railway operator, ÖBB for mobile ticketing in pre-selling conditions. The new chip-based NFC application is based on the interoperable international standard VDV-KA (Association of German Transport Undertakings - Core Application) and has been integrated into the mobilkom austria mobile ticketing platform.  more
