Nokia Siemens Networks Wins Chinese Contracts Worth $1.1 Billion

China Mobile and China Unicom have separately signed agreements to purchase 2G and 3G mobile equipments and services from nokia Siemens Networks during 2009. Under the framework agreements nokia Siemens Networks will roll out WCDMA networks for China Unicom in 11 provinces across China. Five Firms Win Multi-Billion Dollar Chinese 3G Tender

Huawei, Motorola and Ericsson are reported to have been the biggest winners in the latest WCDMA infrastructure tender from China Unicom, industry sources have told the South China Morning Post. The firm believed to have issued a tender to cover 55 cities in 30 provinces - the first stage in a rollout to cover 282 cities with a total CAPEX of around US$11 billion during 2009.  more

Nokia and Motorola Dominate Chinese Smartphone Market

A report from China's CCID Consulting has found that the sales volume of China's smart phone market in 2008Q3 reached 7.474 million units, up 0.6% over Q2 '08; the sales revenue in Q3 reached 18.17 billion Yuan, up 4.5% over 2008Q2. Smart phones' sales volume in 2008Q3 accounted for 19.3% of the total mobile phone sales volume, up 0.7% over 2008Q2.  more
