Telefonica Announces Wide-Spread Trials of LTE Networks

­Telefonica says that it has reached an agreement with six LTE technology providers to launch LTE test projects in six different countries. The suppliers Telefonica has chosen so far: Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, NEC, Nokia Siemens Networks and ZTE, will start rolling out the equipment necessary for testing the technology during the coming months.  more

Hutchison 3G Austria Starts Upgrade to HSPA+

­Hutchison 3G Austria is modernizing its radio access network to be ready for HSPA+. Nokia Siemens Networks will undertake this upgrade starting in autumn 2009. Work is expected to be completed in early 2010. As of 2011 the network can be upgraded to LTE.  more

World's first LTE call on commercial software

­Nokia Siemens Networks says that it recently made the world's first LTE call using commercial base station and fully standard compliant software. The Nokia Siemens Networks' call was made via base stations with fully complaint software to the 3GPP Rel.8 (March 2009 baseline) LTE standard, bringing LTE trials closer to the behavior of future commercial deployments.  more

Nokia Siemens Networks Wins 3G Upgrade Contract in Hong Kong

­Nokia Siemens Networks says that it has won a five-year upgrade contract from Hong Kong's Hutchison Telecom to upgrade its network to HSPA+. Nokia Siemens Networks will also deploy its NetAct network management system to monitor, manage and optimize the network, and offer a comprehensive range of services including maintenance and competence development training.  more

Greenland to Get a 3G Network

­Greenland's sole mobile network operator, Tele Greenland has commissioned Nokia Siemens Networks to roll out a 3G network on 900 MHz frequency and upgrade its existing core network. Nokia Siemens Networks will provide network implementation and software maintenance services, as well as emergency call support. Implementation of the 3G network will be completed in spring 2010.  more

Nokia Siemens Networks Wins 60% of Russian 3G Tender

­Russia's MegaFon has announced the outcome of a 3G network tender, with Nokia Siemens Networks supplying at least 60% of 3G Node -B Base Stations.
