Ericsson Tops LTE Infrastructure Market; Samsung Tops WiMAX - Report
After plunging in the second half of 2010, the GSM RAN market bounced back (up 38% in 4Q10 over 3Q10), fueled by the start of major 2G capacity upgrades in China and India as well as modernization projects in Europe, according to a report by Infonetics Research. LTE network equipment, including E-UTRAN (eNodeB) macrocells and Evolved Packet Core (EPC) equipment, jumped 704% in 2010 over 2009. more

Ericsson maintains leadership among network equipment vendors
Ericsson continued to strike a fine balance between growth and profitability in 2Q09, continuing its gradual migration to a services led approach to operator accounts. Both Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia Siemens also relied more heavily on services in 2Q09, but Ericsson continued to lead the industry in both infrastructure and services revenue, reports Technology Business Research (TBR). more

Verizon Announces LTE Deployment Plans - Going Live in 2010
Verizon's CTO, Dick Lynch has outlined the company's plans to roll out an LTE upgrade for its wireless network. Lynch announced that Verizon Wireless has selected Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent as primary network vendors for its initial LTE network deployments. These two vendors are expected to build the underlying infrastructure that will enable Verizon Wireless to become the first wireless company to offer commercial LTE-based service in the United States, starting in 2010. more
