Indoor services and mobile advertising trial started in a Helsinki Shopping Center

Nokia has announced a public trial at Kamppi Shopping Center in Helsinki, Finland to test consumer response to an indoor mapping and information service which also offers local retail promotions and vouchers via a mobile device. Using Mobile Phones to Monitor Road Traffic Congestion

Drivers in the San Francisco Bay Area with GPS-enabled mobile phones can soon tap into new technology that promises to transform traffic monitoring. Researchers from the University of California, Berkeley, and the Nokia Research Center are to release pilot software that turns cellular devices into mobile traffic probes providing real-time information on traffic flow and travel times.  more

Nokia Plans Swiss Research Facilities

Nokia and the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology in Lausanne and Zurich (EPFL and ETH Zurich) have announced the establishment of a joint long-term research program. Nokia Opens Research Center in Silicon Valley

Nokia has opened a new research center, in California's Silicon Valley. To foster open innovation, Nokia also announced a three-year agreement with Stanford University, to develop joint research projects on collaborative mobile computing and applications. Given their close proximity, researchers from Nokia and Stanford will work together using the Stanford campus community as an experimental testing ground for new technologies and services developed by Nokia Research Center. more
