Foxconn Full-Year Profits Drop 83%

Huge Decline in US Consumer Electronics Spending
The latest consumer spending survey from ChangeWave Research shows a sudden huge pullback in U.S. consumer retail spending on electronics - the largest decline since 2002. The survey of 4,427 consumers, conducted February 18-25, looked at discretionary spending on a range of popular electronic devices, including video game consoles, digital cameras and iPods. more

Hitwise - a company which tracks search engine usage - has reported that Apple's iPhone is the most searched for mobile phone in the UK. 11.4% of Internet searches for a specific mobile phone model were for the iPhone, based on analysis of the top 2,000 search terms that sent traffic to a Hitwise Custom Category, consisting of the top 100 online retail websites in the UK during the four weeks ending 20 October 2007. more

Mobile platform wars on the horizon
Zelos Group says that it predicts by 2008, sales of full-featured handsets, mobile phones that incorporate full-featured operating systems, will grow to about 290 million, or about 43% of global handset sales. Mainstream adoption of these devices will have a significant, disruptive impact on the entire mobile electronics sector -- in markets for wireless, personal electronics and computing technologies. more
