Verizon Wireless Reported to be in Talks for CDMA Based iPhone

Verizon is reported to be in advanced talks with Apple to launch a CDMA version of the iPhone handset. The mobile network operator entered into "high-level" discussions with Apple management a few months ago, when CEO Steve Jobs was overseeing day-to-day business, sources told USA Today. The sources declined to be named because they aren't authorized to speak publicly.  more

Microsoft Wins Mobile Search Deal with Verizon

Verizon Wireless has signed a deal with Microsoft to provide portal, local and Internet search as well as mobile advertising services to customers on its devices. The five-year agreement will go into effect in the first half of 2009 when Microsoft Live Search is targeted to be available on new Verizon Wireless feature phones and smartphones.  more

Verizon in Talks with Google for Mobile Search Partnership

Verizon Communications is reported to be in talks with search engine giant, Google over a mobile search tie up for its Verizon Wireless subsidiary. The Wall Street Journal reported that the deal would make Google the default search engine on all Verizon phones in exchange for a share of the advertising revenues.  more

US Operators Ad Spend Passes $4 Billion in 2007

The US mobile phone operators spent some US$4.1 billion on advertising in 2007 reports a new study from nielsen Monitor-Plus. This represented a twelve percent rise over the spend in 2006. The study found that over US$1.4 billion went on broadcast television - followed by cable television with US$816 million. Spot television picked up just over US$627 million.  more

The nielsen Company has announced that it will begin measuring mobile phone users through a new service called nielsen Wireless. This service will measure how many people use content services such as mobile Internet and mobile video and what impact this has on established media behavior. more
