Visa payWave mobile pilot in Switzerland declared a success
Credit Suisse, PostFinance, SIX Multipay, Swisscard, Swisscom, together with Visa Europe have concluded a pilot study in Switzerland of contactless payments using Near Field Communication (nfc) enabled mobile phones incorporating Visa payWave card payment technology. In the pilot over 90% of people who took part liked using the technology for its ease and convenience. The same percentage also said they would use the technology when it becomes commercially available. more

Visa Makes NFC Mobile Point-of-Sale Payments Commercially Available
Credit card merchant, Visa has announced the launch of the world's first commercial Visa mobile payments service for point-of-sale transactions using Near Field Communications (nfc) technology. The service marks the first time consumers can purchase an nfc-enabled mobile device off the shelf and use that device to make Visa payWave-enabled transactions at the point-of-sale instead of using their payment card. more

ViVOtech Provided NFC Provisioning Software for Phones Enabled with Visa payWave
Silicon Valley-based ViVOtech announced today that its provisioning software for Near Field Communication (nfc) mobile payments is being used in the first nfc mobile payment trial in Latin America led by Visa, in Guatemala. This deployment marks Latin AmericaĆ's first nfc-based mobile payment pilot and use of Visa payWave-enabled mobile handsets at hundreds of merchants that have installed the ViVOpay 5000 contactless payment readers in Guatemala. more

Nokia Teams up with Visa for Mobile Money Trials

UK Consumers Interested in NFC Enabeld Mobile Phones
A survey carried out by O2 UK has found strong interest in using nfc enabled mobile phones to pay for consumer goods. Nine out of ten triallists were happy using nfc technology on a mobile phone and 78% said they would be interested in using contactless services if available. Convenience, ease-of-use and the status of having such an innovative device were seen as the main benefits. more

Motorola Invests in Near Field Chip Supplier
Motorola, through its strategic venture capital arm has made a strategic investment in INSIDE Contactless, a developer of contactless payment chips and near field communications (nfc) technologies for mobile devices. The company did not disclose the value of the investment. more

O2 to Test NFC in London with 500 Trialists
UK network operator, O2 has confirmed plans to launch the UK's first large scale pilot of nfc (Near Field Communications) technology on mobile phones. The trial of the O2 Wallet paves the way for the mass market use of mobile phones to pay for purchases, access events or even be used as Oyster cards for travel around London, simply by touching the phone to a reader. more
