Nokia Shows Off 3rd NFC Capable Mobile Phone

Nokia has shown off its third fully integrated Near Field Communication (nfc) mobile phone, the Nokia 6216 classic. The new arrival is Nokia's first SIM-based nfc device which enables operators to build nfc services on to the SIM card. The Nokia 6216 classic is expected to start shipping in the third quarter of 2009 in select markets with an estimated retail price of EUR 150 before taxes and subsidies.  more

Visa Makes NFC Mobile Point-of-Sale Payments Commercially Available

Credit card merchant, Visa has announced the launch of the world's first commercial Visa mobile payments service for point-of-sale transactions using Near Field Communications (nfc) technology. The service marks the first time consumers can purchase an nfc-enabled mobile device off the shelf and use that device to make Visa payWave-enabled transactions at the point-of-sale instead of using their payment card.  more

Nokia Teams up with Visa for Mobile Money Trials

Credit card processor, Visa and Nokia have announced plans to deliver Visa payment and payment-related services - including contactless payments, remote payments, money transfer, alerts and notifications - for Nokia phones beginning with the Nokia 6212 Classic, expected to be available starting October 2008.  more
