Sprint Nextel Q1 Loss Widens to $594 Million

Sprint nextel has reported its first-quarter financials - and recorded a deepening loss of US$594 million, down by 18% on the US$505 million a year ago. Net operating revenues were $8.2 billion, down 12% on the US$9.3 billion a year ago.  more

Sprint Outlines WiMAX Expansion Programme

USA network, Sprint nextel has announced the next markets in its WiMAX network rollout. The network is being folded into the national WiMAX network being built by its joint-partner, Clearwire. Sprint says that it plans to deploy WiMAX in many markets in 2009, including: Atlanta, Honolulu, Charlotte, Las Vegas, Chicago, Philadelphia, DallasFort Worth, Portland and Seattle  more

Fitch Downgrades Sprint Nextel's IDR to 'BB'; Outlook Negative

Debt ratings agency, Fitch has downgraded Sprint nextel's Issuer Default Rating (IDR) to 'BB' with a negative outlook. Fitch says that Sprint nextel's downgrade is reflective of the significant continued revenue declines primarily due to the high subscriber losses as well as the limited visibility over the timing and the extent of how overall operating trends might improve during 2009. In particular, the iDEN operations have continued a sharp deterioration of its operating metrics.  more

Sprint Nextel Reports Loss of 1.3 Million Customers in Q4 '08

Sprint nextel has reported a fourth-quarter loss of US$1.62 billion, compared to the extraordinary loss of US$29.3 billion a year ago, caused by the US$29 billion write down of its nextel purchase. Revenue in the quarter also fell 14.4 percent to $8.4 billion as 1.3 million subscribers decided to leave the company.  more

Sprint Nextel Slips into 3rd Quarter Loss - Loses 1.3 Million Customers

US based Sprint nextel has swung into a loss as it reported revenues of US$8.8 billion and a loss of US$326 million for the 3rd quarter of this year. This compared with a profit of US$64 million a year ago. If you exclude on-off items, the company says it would have broken even for the quarter.  more

Sprint Nextel Completes Sale of Tower Assets

Sprint nextel says that it has completed the previously announced sale of approximately 3,080 towers to TowerCo for an estimated US$670 million in cash, with the number of towers and sale price subject to post-close adjustment. The two companies have also signed a long-term leasing agreement for TowerCo to provide Sprint nextel with wireless communications towers to support the company's CDMA, iDEN and WiMAX networks.  more
