Sprint Nextel Q1 Loss Widens to $594 Million

Sprint nextel has reported its first-quarter financials - and recorded a deepening loss of US$594 million, down by 18% on the US$505 million a year ago. Net operating revenues were $8.2 billion, down 12% on the US$9.3 billion a year ago.  more

Sprint Outlines WiMAX Expansion Programme

USA network, Sprint nextel has announced the next markets in its WiMAX network rollout. The network is being folded into the national WiMAX network being built by its joint-partner, Clearwire. Court Gives Sprint Just One Year to Leave Nextel Network in iPCS Territory

A US court has given Sprint nextel about a year to abandon its nextel network in the territory of one of its wireless affiliates, iPCS Wireless following a lengthy and acrimonious court battle. The order requires Sprint to cease owning, operating and managing the nextel wireless network in iPCS Wireless' service area on or before January 25, 2010. The order provides that Sprint may request an extension of that period upon a showing of good cause.  more

Sprint, Clearwire Sued Over WiMAX Patent Claims

Adaptix, a Texan WiMAX base station and mobile terminal vendor has launched legal action against Sprint nextel and Clearwire for allegedly infringing six of its patents. The company is demanding the usual damages, fines and a bar on the company from continuing the rollout of its nationwide WiMAX network.  more

Sprint Nextel's WiMAX Joint Venture Legal Action to Proceed

A court in Delaware, USA has given permission for a legal action to proceed over Sprint's planned WiMAX joint venture with Clearwire. While the court action, initiated by Sprint affiliate operator, iPCS will now go ahead, the court decided that two iPCS subsidiaries, Horizon PCS and Bright PCS would not be allowed to join in the legal action.  more
