Alcatel-Lucent Wins South African 3G Contract
Alcatel-Lucent has won a EUR22 million (US$30 million) contract from South Africa's Vodacom to design, build and deploy an upgrade of its existing 3G network. The enhanced 3G wireless network will improve VodacomÃ's network voice-quality and data-transmission speeds, while further strengthening indoor coverage in urban areas. more

Nokia Siemens Wins Optical Backbone Contract in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and HerzegovinaÃ's BH Telecom has awarded a contract to Nokia Siemens Networks for a fibre optic network which includes Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology. Nokia Siemens NetworksÃ' DWDM network based on the SURPASS hiT 7300 platform will provide BH Telecom with a transport backbone, anticipating the future transmission volumes from the emerging data traffic. more
