Ericsson Wins Nigerian Network Management Contract

Ericsson says that it has won a five-year network management contract with Zain Nigeria. Under the agreement, Ericsson will be responsible for the network operations, field operations including optimization, third-party vendor management for Zain's GSM/WCDMA networks, and business support systems.  more

Juniper Networks and NSN to Create Carrier Ethernet Joint Venture

Juniper Networks and Nokia Siemens Networks are to form a joint venture to address the Carrier Ethernet Transport market. Huawei Wins Italian WiMAX Contract

Huawei says that Italy's Retelit has awarded it a contract to deploy a WiMAX 802.16e network covering north and central parts of Italy where they own a BWA 3.5 Ghz frequency licence. Under this agreement, Huawei will provide an end-to-end WiMAX 802.16e mobile solution including Base Station, Access Service Network (ASN) Gateway, Hybrid TDM-IP Microwave equipment and Network Management Systems.  more

Nokia Announces 490 Job Cuts

Nokia has announced two rounds of further job cuts which will result in up to 490 staff losing their jobs with the company. A total of 170 jobs is to be cut at its Demand Supply Network Management organization, which is responsible for production and logistics for Nokia mobile devices.  more

Nokia Siemens Networks and EMC to Improve IP Network Management

Motorola to Expand Taiwanese WiMAX Network

Polish Network to Expand Data Capacity

Hong Kong Undreground Railway Extension Gets Mobile Phone Coverage
