The Fastest Growing Mobile Operators in Africa/Mid-East

The chart shows the fastest growing businesses in the MEA region over a twelve month view. The list includes nine of the names that feature in the Q1 08 list, with Zain Iraq coming in at Algerie Telecom MobileÃ's expense. The top two places are the same in the year as they are in the quarter, with TCIÃ's 9.12m just shading IrancellÃ's 7.95m. The other really strong performances in the region were spread across five main markets - with Mobily in Saudi Arabia taking third place ahead of two Egyptian companies, three from Nigeria and one each from Iraq and Kenya.  more

Qtel Q2 2007 - Strengthening its Position as an International Competitor

Qatar's Qtel is the latest company from the Middle East to declare its intention of becoming a major power in the world telecommunications market. As its Managing Director Dr Nasser Marafih noted in the company's recent press release "Qtel's strategic priority is to continue to grow profitably and to fulfil its vision of becoming one of the top 20 world telecom operators by 2020; through a combination of partnerships and acquisitions". more
