Thailand Delays 3G License Auction Indefinitely
Thailand's telecoms regulator, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) has delayed the long planned 3G license auction indefinitely, pending the formation of a new board of directors. The regulator is currently waiting for Royal Assent for the appointment of four new directors to the seven-member board. more
Bayan to Continue to Protest at Denial of 3G License
The Philippines based Bayan Telecommunications is to ask the Court of Appeals to reconsider its recent decision that the telecoms regulator was correct in denying the company a 3G license. The company has been seeking to overturn the decision in the courts ever since its application was rejected in 2005. more

Thailand 3G License Sale Could be Delayed Until 2010
Thailand's on/off process to issue 3G licenses seems to have hit the off-switch again with reports that the tender could be delayed until next year, with network launches not now expected until late in 2010. The secretary-general of the Office of National Telecommunications Commission, Suranand Wongwittayakamjorn told the Bangkok Post that "the much-awaited trial auction for 3G licences will now be put back to January, with licences being awarded by the first quarter of next year" more
