Chunghwa Telecom 3rd-Quarter Profits Down by 18%

­Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom has reported a 1.7% decline in its 3rd-quarter revenues to NT$50.1 billion (US$1.54 billion), while net profits dropped by 17.9% to NT$10.9 billion (US4335 million). As of September 30, 2009, Chunghwa had 9.18 million mobile subscribers, slightly up quarter-over-quarter by 1.6% compared to 9.04 million as of June 30, 2009.  more

Georgia Cancels Radio Spectrum Auction

­The Georgian telecoms regulator, the National Communications Commission has cancelled a planned auction of additional radio spectrum in the GSM1800 and UMTS bands. The regulator said that no bidders had submitted applications by the deadline of 5th October.  more

Georgian Regulator Fines Russian Operator for Unlicensed Operations

Geocell Extends Mobile Operating License by 10 Years

The Georgian National Communications Commission says that it has agreed to extend the mobile operating license held by Geocell by a further ten years. The operator is being charged GEL 39.3 million (US$23.5 million) for the extension.  more

Georgia Fines Russian Operator for "Illegal Activities"

The former Soviet state of Georgia has accused Russian mobile operator, Megafon of illegally operating a network within its borders.
