Virgin Mobile USA Q2 Profits Up on Lower Revenues

Virgin Mobile USA, the mvno that is shortly to be acquired by Sprint Nextel has reported second-quarter revenues down slightly at US$290 million compared to $293.8 million a year ago. Net income up up sharply though at $21.8 million compared to net income of $5.5 million in the second quarter of 2008.  more

Woolworths Sets Up MVNO in Australia

Sprint Nextel Buys Virgin Mobile USA

Sprint Nextel is buying the US mvno, Virgin Mobile a total equity value of approximately US$483 million, which includes the value of Sprint's existing 13.1% stake in the company. Following the closing of the transaction, Sprint's prepaid business, which includes its Boost Mobile brand, will be led by Dan Schulman, current Virgin Mobile USA chief executive officer, who will report directly to Dan Hesse, Sprint Nextel president and chief executive officer.  more

Telenet selects Alcatel-Lucent as network integrator

Telenet and Alcatel-Lucent have announced a major step in the operator's mobile mvno project. ­Telenet, a provider of media and telecommunications services in Flanders, selected Alcatel-Lucent as overall network integrator and has now announced a 7-year frame agreement with Alcatel-Lucent.  more

Amazon Branded MVNO for UK Kindle Launch

Amazon is reported to be close ­to signing an mvno contract in the UK as it prepares to launch its e-book reader, the Kindle into the European market. The UK trade magzine, Mobile Today added that Amazon is understood to have outsourced all aspects of manufacturing for the Kindle in the UK to Qualcomm, including the mvno management.  more
