India's MTNL Invites Bidders to Manage its WiMAX Network
India's state-owned MTNL has published the tender for companies to set up and manage its planned WiMAX networks in the cities of Delhi and mumbai. The operator is offering bidders a six-year franchise operation on a revenue sharing basis. more

Harris Stratex Networks has acquired WiMAX vendor, Telsima Corp for US$12 million in cash payable over the next 12 months. In September 2008, Harris Stratex announced a partnership agreement with Telsima for end-to-end 4G network solutions. more

Vodafone Raising Funds for India's 3G Auction
Vodafone Essar is reported to be currently trying to raise US$2 billion as a bridging loan to finance its bids in the country's delayed 3G and WiMAX auctions. The current reserve price for the 3G auction is US$412 million to cover all the available circles - although the auction has been delayed as the Finance Ministry is battling to double the reserve to at least US$824 million. more

India's 3G License Auction Confirmed - Starts Jan 16th 2009
India's government has finalised the plans for its 3G and WiMAX auctions - with the 3G auctions starting on January 16th next year. Auctions for WiMAX licenses will commence two days after the 3G licenses are sold. more

Indian Network "Soft-Launches" 3G Coverage in Delhi
India finally launched a 3G network today as state-controlled operator, Mahanagar Telecom Nigam Limited (MTNL) launched a WCDMA network in the capital city, Delhi. The company is only offering a "soft-launch" though, and coverage is limited to the main business and political districts, Connaught Place, Sanchar Bhawan, Rajaji Marg, India Gate, Pragati Maidan, Delhi Gate, and Minto Road. more
