3G Subscriptions in the Honduras Market to Surge by 30% by 2014
3G subscriptions in the Honduras telecommunications market will surge to 30 percent by 2014, up from 2 percent today, according to a new report from Pyramid Research. With a total revenue of US$863 million in 2008, the telecommunications market in Honduras ranks 14th in Latin America and fourth in Central America. However, the market will expand at a CAGR of 4.6 percent over the next five years, the fourth highest expansion rate in the region, notes Jose Magana, analyst at Pyramid Research and co-author of the report. more

World's First Femtocell Standard Published by 3GPP
Three trade bodies, The Femto Forum, 3GPP and the Broadband Forum have jointly announced that the world's first femtocell standard has been officially published by 3GPP, paving the way for interoperability between different vendors' access points and femto gateways. The new standard, which forms part of 3GPP's Release 8, and interdependent with Broadband Forum extensions to its Technical Report-069 (TR-069), has been completed in just 12 months following cooperation between the three groups. more

MTS Uzbekistan Orders Interconnect Billing Platform
Polystar OSIX, a supplier of OSS/BSS solutions, has announced that mts Uzbekistan has placed an order with it for Interconnect, Network and Service Performance Management. Under the terms of the agreement, mts Uzbekistan will deploy Polystar Interconnect Peering Assurance, Network and Service Assurance solutions to cover legacy, as well as GPRS, VoIP and Umts technologies. more
