Peru's Private Investment Promotion Agency (Proinversi³n) plans to auction off 821 - 824 MHz and 866 - 869 MHZ radio-electric spectrum for Lima and Callao along with 25 MHz on C-band (1.900 MHz) nationwide. Mexican Mobile Telephony Revenues Will Surpass $11.9 Billion Mark by 2013
Signals Telecom Consulting has published a report which examines the Mexican mobile services market with a focus on the Value Added Services (VAS) offered by local mobile operators. The report notes that the Mexican market is characterized by a VAS offering focused on SMS services. The slowdown in subscriber growth and the development of 3G networks, however, will force operators to aggressively pursue a VAS offering that is not focused on text messaging. more

The saturation of the traditional markets of telecommunications operators, the convergence of services and the desire of governments to increase accesses and broadband coverage are some of the reasons that Latin American and Caribbean nation Governments are looking at the granting of radio electric spectrum licenses, mainly oriented to the implementation of Umts/HSPA and WiMAX, with great optimism. Research firm, Signals says that it believes that the optimal assignment of this resource should revolve around three essential items: the delivery systems, the coverage guidelines and the deployment timetables that are imposed as a limit for the commercial launch of the services. more
