Bharti Airtel Says On Track to Launch in Sri Lanka by Year End

India's Bharti Airtel says that it expects to launch its network in neighbouring Sri Lanka by the end of this year - subject to sorting out a long running interconnection dispute with the incumbent operators. Bharti Airtel has accused the incumbents of offering it termination rates which are higher than the rates they offer each other.  more

Sri Lanka Telecom Results - Mobitel Consolidates 2nd Place

Sri Lanka Telecom, which operates the mobitel mobile network in Sri Lanka, has reported its Q4 07 Results, which reveal impressive growth to the subscriber base. Quarterly net additions of 288.2k - a company record - took the total number of subscribers to 1.401m at the end of 2007, with proportionate quarterly growth at 25.9%. Although this is slightly below the 28.9% recorded in Q4 06, it is still an excellent result.  more
