Bulgarian Operator Launches HSPA+ Upgrade
Bulgaria's M-Tel says that it has launched a HSPA+ (HSPA Evolution) upgrade to its network, offering peak mobile data download rates of up to 21Mbps. This is the latest step in the M-Tel's UMTS network development, which is in response to the constantly increasing interest and mobile Internet consumption by the company's subscribers. For the last twelve months the operator has registered 300% growth of this service's subscribers. more

Telekom Austria Mobile Subscriber Base Nudged 18 Million in 2008
Telekom Austria has reported that its mobile Communication customer base grew by 15.2% in 2008 from 15.4 million customers at the end of 2007 to 17.8 million customers at the end of 2008, with all mobile operations contributing to this subscriber growth. more

Bulgaria Cancels GSM License Tender
Bulgaria's telecoms regulator, the Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) has decided to annul the process for awarding the country's fourth GSM license after the sole bidder failed to submit their paperwork in time.
