Singapore's StarHub Names former MobileOne CEO as New Boss
Singapore's StarHub has announced that former CEO of rival operator, mobileone is to take over the helm at the company. Starhub's current CEO, Terry Clontz will retire in January 2010, but he will continue as a Director with the Group. Succeeding him as CEO is Neil Montefiore, who surprised the industry by resigning his post of CEO at mobileone earlier this year. more

Almost One in Five Singapore Connections are 3G
Singapore's three mobile players have recorded fourth quarter net additions figures closer together than ever, with Singtel, M1 and Starhub taking 29.6%, 39.5% and 30.9% of the new customers, respectively, between September and December. Q4 2006 saw mobileone (M1) - now Singapore's smallest operator - record the highest number of net additions in the market, as a result of reducing overall churn to a low for the year of 1.3% per month. more

The Singapore based mobile content provider, mTouche, has been fined US$93,000 by the telecoms regulator - the IDA, for allowing its corporate customer, MyGlobalfun, to access its customer database to send out almost 300,000 unsolicited and chargeable Chinese New Year SMS greetings. Specifically, mTouche failed to inform mobile end users that they would be charged for the SMS sent; they did not get end users' consent before sending out chargeable and unsolicited SMSes; they disclosed their end users' mobile phone numbers to a third-party without the mobile end users' prior consent. more
