Comstar Completes Building First WiMAX Network in Armenia
Russia based, Comstar has announced that its Armenian subsidiary, Cornet-AM, an Internet services provider has built the first mobile WiMAX network in the Republic of Armenia. The wireless broadband network, based on the 802.16e standard, consists of 24 base stations which are connected to each other via radio relay lines and rented telecommunications channels. Starent Networks has announced Taiwan's First International Telecom (Fitel) has deployed Starent Networks' solutions to enable multimedia services through its mobile WiMAX network. Fitel provides mobile communications services through its network to more than one million subscribers. In 2007, Fitel acquired spectrum for a WiMAX network in Northern Taiwan. more
