Indian WiMAX market to be worth $13 billion by 2012
The WiMAX Forum has issued a report which projects the Indian WiMAX market including devices will be worth $13 billion in 2012. The WiMAX Forum forecasts that by 2012 the Indian market will support 27.5 million WiMAX users representing approximately 20% of the global WiMAX user base. more

Nearly a Third of Phones Sold in South Korea are 3G Models
The market share of handsets supporting WCDMA and HSDPA networks increased remarkably in South Korea in 2007. The latest research report released by ROA Group found out that 30.7% of the handsets launched in 2007 supported WCDMA and HSDPA networks, while the figure was a mere 4% in 2006. WiMAX Forum Forecasts 133 Million WiMAXâ„¢ Users by 2012
The WiMAX Forum has announced that it projects more than 133 million WiMAX users globally by 2012. The forecast is based on the results of an independently commissioned research study to be published in April 2008. Additional data from the study estimates that approximately 70 percent of the forecasted WiMAX users by 2012 will utilize mobile and portable WiMAX devices to access broadband Internet services. more

WiMAX Subs to Exceed 100 Million by 2014
Research and analysis firm, Maraved is forecasting in a new report that WiMAX subscribers to exceed 100 million by 2014. "WiMAX chipsets will start to be embedded in laptops in the second half of 2008, into handheld devices in 2009, and into consumer electronics by early 2010," said Adlane Fellah, President and CEO of Maravedis and co-author of the report. "This is definitely a key assumption, as large-scale WiMAX deployments by companies such as BSNL and Sprint start to materialize in 2008-2009 despite current challenges." more
