Agilent Technologies has announced that the China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR), a division of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and a WiMAX Forum(r) Designated Certification Laboratory (WFDCL), has successfully used its N6430A Series Mobile WiMAX Protocol Conformance Test system to complete the first test of Mobile WiMAX products in mainland China. Alvarion says that it has won a new Mobile WiMAX network contract from Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom for the northeastern county of Yilan. The network has been contracted by the local government. Papua New Guinea getting a Mobile WiMAX Network
Alvarion has won a contract to deploy the first Mobile WiMAX network in Papua New Guinea for Telikom PNG. Alvarion’s local partner for this project is Telrad Networks. The operator’s first network in the capital city of Port Moresby was launched this month and is expected to provide connectivity to approximately 1,500 users. The second network to be deployed in the city of Lae is planned to go live in the second quarter of 2009. Further expansion is expected at the end of 2009, extending the network to all regional cities as part of the master plan to achieve nationwide coverage for 55,000 end-users. more
