Ericsson to Expand Charging and IMS Systems for Vodafone Ireland
Vodafone Ireland has selected Ericsson to be the systems integrator of a real-time charging and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution, including upgrading and expanding the operator's network. Under the agreement, Ericsson will be responsible for systems integration of existing solutions into the next-generation IMS environment. Ericsson will also upgrade and expand network capacity, enable real-time charging and underpin demanding multimedia functionality. more

Ericsson Wins 3-Year HSPA Contract in Hong Kong
Ericsson has been selected by Hong Kong's SmarTone-Vodafone as the sole supplier for a three year network expansion contract. Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will be the sole supplier of a HSPA-enabled radio access network, including Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS), a functionality that enables mobile-TV services to be broadcast. The deal also includes a fully IP-based core network, including IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), Ericsson's Mobile Softswitch Solution, and Redback's SmartEdge routers. more

Nokia Wins Philippine Contract
Nokia has signed a nationwide supply contract with the Philippine telecommunications company Globe Telecom. This network modernization deal includes an upgrade of the Globe Telecom circuit switched core network, also enabling fixed mobile convergence. Under the agreement Nokia will renew the core network of Globe Telecom including the upgrade of Nokia mobile switching centre into Nokia MSC Server mobile softswitch. more

Ireland's O2 has selected Ericsson as a sole supplier for its Irish HSDPA-enabled 3G network. Ericsson will also expand and modernize O2's existing network with IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and the Mobile Softswitch solution. Under the four-year agreement, Ericsson will provide new 2G and 3G core network equipment, including mobile softswitch, and upgrade the access network with HSDPA technology. Ericsson will have the prime integrator role and will provide network deployment and systems integration services for building the network. The deployment will start immediately. more

Expanding GSM Coverage in Bangladesh
Bangladesh's GrameenPhone has awarded a contract to Ericsson to expand its GSM/EDGE network and prepare the core network for all IP.
